On Friday 18 and Saturday 19 September, the experienced gardening team at Notcutts will host a series of free, informal drop-in sessions packed with practical ideas to help local gardeners make the most of autumn.

Taking place from 10-11am and 2-3pm on both days, the autumn gardening event will include live demonstrations showing how to create colourful autumn hanging baskets and containers, along with inspiration for planting spring-flowering bulb displays.

The team will also share practical advice on helping heat-weary plants and lawns recover after the summer, as well as explain why autumn is one of the best times of the year to get gardening and planting.

Andrew Rawson, General Manager, Notcutts Dukeries Garden Centre, said: “Autumn is such a rewarding time to be in the garden. After the hot weather we’ve had this summer, many of us will have plants, borders and lawns that need a little extra care, so it’s the perfect opportunity to give them some attention and bring fresh colour back into the garden.

“Our team love sharing their gardening knowledge, and these sessions are designed to be really relaxed and useful. Whether you are an experienced gardener or just getting started, everyone is welcome to come along, ask questions and pick up some practical ideas to try at home. There’s no need to book, just pop in and join us.” 

Visitors will find the garden centre full of seasonal inspiration, with colourful displays of autumnal plants and gardening essentials, alongside spooky Halloween displays and stunning autumn homewares, décor, gift ideas, clothing and more. The restaurant will be serving a seasonal menu of customer favourites including homemade scones, traybakes, cakes and hot drinks.

Notcutts Autumn Gardening Events on Friday 18 and Saturday 19 September 2026, 10-11am and 2-3pm, are free to attend, all welcome and no need to book.
