Scrooby Illuminate Event

Thursday 22 November 2018
Various locations in Scrooby Village, North Nottinghamshire, starting at 5pm

The Scrooby Illuminate Event is one of a number of commemorative events and activities taking place each November in the count-down to the 2020 anniversary of the Mayflower Pilgrims.

This is the third Illuminate event in Scrooby and it marks historic Scrooby's Pilgrim connections.

The event starts with a service at St. Wilfrid's Church at 5pm, presided over by Rev. Irene Tissington. This will include a talk by Sue Allan, Chair of Pilgrim Fathers UK Origins Association on 'The Forgotten Pilgrim Women' and this will be followed by a recital from Scrooby Manor's own Kamilla Dunstan.

At 6.15 there will be a lantern parade around the village with local uniformed groups, ending at the Village Hall.

There, students from Retford's Elizabethan Academy will perform an interpretive drama about the Pilgrim Children's journey and refreshments will be served.

If you would like to come and join in this event please RSVP to Sandra Withington at This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it.

Would you like to make a lantern and participate in the Parade through Scrooby village?

Artist Jessica Kemp will be at Scrooby Village Hall on Monday 29th October from 1pm until 5pm and everyone, no matter your age or ability, is invited to drop by and learn how to make your own star lantern.  All materials will be provided and the event is free.
