Gainsborough United Reformed Church
Thursday 28 November 2019    Two free performances at 4pm and 5.45pm (times to be confirmed) - Each performance will last about 45 minutes.  Booking essential.

The Imagination Museum: Mayflower 400 project brings to life museum collections, heritage sites, historical stories and themes through fun and engaging dance performances and workshops. It draws on the historic story of the Mayflower’s voyage from England to America, and will begin in Lincolnshire/Nottinghamshire, travel via Hampshire and culminate in Plymouth.

The Mayflower set sail from Plymouth in September 1620, and the 400th anniversary will be commemorated nationwide in 2020.

About the event:

On 28th November 2019, we will be hosting very special Celebration Performances of The Imagination Museum: Mayflower 400, welcoming schools and community groups to join us in our final performances in the Pilgrim Roots region.

At Gainsborough United Reformed Church, Gladstone St, Gainsborough DN21 2JR

Performance timings will be confirmed nearer the time, but we expect the free performances will take place at 4pm and 5.45pm.

Booking essential: ticket booking link will be added to the Imagination Museum's website here nearer the time.

About the piece:

In The Imagination Museum: Mayflower 400, 3 eccentric tour guides will lead you on a danced history tour, using movement, text and music to explore what it was really like for many of the passengers who undertook a historic journey from England to America aboard the Mayflower in 1620.

Playful, imaginative and moving, The Imagination Museum is a performance about determination and the extraordinary things that it makes ordinary people do.

Suitable for all ages.

The Imagination Museum: Mayflower 400 project is produced by Made By Katie Green, supported financially using public funding by the National Lottery through Arts Council England as part of the Strategic Touring programme, Hampshire Cultural Trust, The Box, West Lindsey, Plymouth, Nottinghamshire and Bassetlaw District Councils (including a contribution of Divisional Funding from Cllr Mike Quigley MBE and Cllr Susan Shaw) and the Surf the Wave programme, and also delivered in partnership with the Pilgrim Roots Regional Partnership, Transported, The Point, Plymouth Dance and Plymouth Culture.
