What Stories It Could Tell? - Creative Writing Workshop at the National Civil War Centre, Newark

Friday 28 February 2020    5.30 - 7.15pm

Join Sara Read (author of The Gossips' Choice and Lecturer at Loughborough University) and Barbara Cooke (Lecturer in Creative Writing, Loughborough University) for a FREE creative writing workshop focusing on a historical object.

Creative histories are written by thinking about an object and the stories it could tell. Our focus is the birthing chair (like the one featured in the National Civil War Centre's collection). This object was used throughout history to help women give birth in an upright position.

After a short introduction to the object, and viewing of the 17th and 19th century birthing chairs close up, you'll have the opportunity to develop some 'flash fiction'.

BOOKING: Attendance at the event is FREE but please use this link to book in advance.
