Illuminate Lantern Parade in Retford

Parade starts in Carolgate, Retford, Nottinghamshire
5.30pm, Friday 22nd November 2019

Retford celebrates this year's Mayflower Pilgrim Festival with an enchanting Lantern Parade through the town centre, starting in Carolgate at 5.30pm and ending at St. Swithun's Parish Church on the afternoon of Friday 22nd November.

Following the parade's arrival at St Swithun’s Parish Church at around 6pm there will be a service starting at 6.15pm, including performances by the Elizabethan Academy drama group and the acclaimed Songbirds choir, followed by the ever popular ‘400’ photograph in the churchyard and light refreshments afterwards. Everyone is welcome.

Lantern Workshops

To be part of the Lantern Parade on 22nd November come and make your own lantern at one of the Illuminate Workshops taking place in Retford and Worksop. The workshops are run by professional artists.  Drop in at any time at any of the locations. See details below.

Bassetlaw played a key role in the story of the Mayflower Pilgrims, nearly 400 years ago, and in the lead-up to the main 400th anniversary celebrations, next year, in 2020, Retford and other local towns & villages hold celebrations every November.
