at Bassetlaw Museum

Museum Open: Monday – Saturday, 10am – 4.45pm.  Last admission at 4.30pm

Derrick is a retired art teacher who spent 32 years in the profession, teaching all manner of artistic styles and media. During the course of his teaching career, he concentrated on honing self-taught skills in pencil, pastel and pen and ink work. Detailed pen and ink work is a trademark style of his, often then adding a water colour wash to the original or a photocopy.

Much of Derrick’s work is based on photographs. He adores big cats, especially tigers. For the past three years he has been a member of the Association of Animal Artists and some of his drawings can be seen on the Associations website.

This exhibition is a retrospective one which covers the main genres of styles and media he has used over the years. It features portraits, landscapes and drawings of animals.
