    Class/Course Details

Discover the traditional art of making your own cider and perry on this one-day course. This introductory course is designed for people with an interest in making real cider and perry at home and those looking for a creative way to use their apples and pears.

Guided by cider producer Simon Reed you’ll learn how to make delicious cider and perry using traditional processes. Simon is a champion of real cider and makes regular appearances in the media as a recognised cider expert. He’ll share his expertise and passion for cider with you, as you cover topics and techniques including:

    • History, heritage, and traditions of cider and perry making
    • An overview of the varieties of apples and pears used for making cider and perry
    • Choice and use of equipment
    • Milling and pressing of apples and pears
    • Fermentation and maturation
    • Bottling and storage.

You are welcome to bring along your own apples and pears for Simon to identify and, depending on the variety, use for cider and perry making.
